PLAVIX TESTING

Plavix (clopidogrel) is a very effective medication for preventing clot-related events such as heart attacks or strokes.

The Plavix DNA test requires only a cheek swab sample to obtain your DNA. The test analyzes the CYP2C19 gene and looks for variations. This can predict your body's ability to process Plavix (clopidogrel) in order to produce the desired effect. Your test results will help you and your physician understand interactions between all of the medicines, herbals and over the counter medicines you take. They can also aid your physician in making decisions about altering the dosage or form of drugs prescribed to you to prevent interference with Plavix (clopidogrel) effectiveness and other adverse drug reactions.
